Agent Orange and Blue Water Navy

Agent Orange and other herbicides were used extensively during the Vietnam War. Veterans who served in the qualifying locations are presumed to have been exposed, and 16+ conditions are presumptively service-connected for them.

Qualifying service locations

  • Republic of Vietnam (any time January 9, 1962 – May 7, 1975)
  • Within 12 nautical miles of the coast of Vietnam (Blue Water Navy, restored January 1, 2020)
  • Thailand military bases (specific time period and units)
  • Korean DMZ (April 1, 1968 – August 31, 1971)
  • Specific locations in Laos, Cambodia
  • Servicemembers who handled, transported, or sprayed herbicides anywhere

  • AL amyloidosis
  • Chronic B-cell leukemias
  • Chloracne
  • Diabetes mellitus type II
  • Hodgkin’s disease
  • Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma
  • Ischemic heart disease
  • Multiple myeloma
  • Parkinson’s disease (and Parkinsonism)
  • Peripheral neuropathy (early-onset)
  • Porphyria cutanea tarda
  • Prostate cancer
  • Respiratory cancers (lung, larynx, trachea, bronchus)
  • Soft tissue sarcomas
  • Hypertension (added by PACT Act, 2022)
  • MGUS (added by PACT Act)
  • Bladder cancer, hypothyroidism (added 2021)
