Static disability and P&T designation
Some conditions are inherently “static” — they will not improve. Examples: amputations, complete blindness, complete deafness, total knee replacements (after first year). Static conditions should not receive future re-examination orders. If yours does, contest the order.
Strategy
If you have a static condition and your decision letter mentions future re-examinations, request P&T designation immediately via Supplemental Claim. Cite the specific medical evidence showing the condition is not expected to improve. P&T removes the future re-exam orders.
